Technical Talk Details: Artificial Intelligence is posed to transform offshore operations by leveraging sensor fusion, adaptive algorithms, predictive modeling and machine learning well beyond what current solutions can provide. For example, the Kalman filter is the most prolific algorithm implemented in inertial navigation systems and hence robotics since it's inception in 1967. Despite it's many adaptations for improvement, such as the Extended KF or Unscented KF, it still has its limitations. Artificial Intelligence Neural Network (ANN) processing has made significant breakthroughs that have pushed the inertial navigation industry and hence robotics into a new era. In 2012, Advanced Navigation commercialized a fusion neural network out of a university thesis and through the past 11 years, have implemented this technology into a wide variety of solutions. This adaptation has paved the way for low cost and high performing MEMS & FOG based navigation solutions as well as the introduction of a 6 DOF low-cost autonomous underwater drone. The improvements in navigation are only the beginning as machine learning algorithms are now allowing subsea robotics to not only intelligently navigate but also allow for real-time, unassisted object localization and classification of subsea points of interest.

This presentation will cover how this enabling technology has allowed Advanced Navigation to remove the barriers of entry for high precision navigation, data collection and monitoring in the subsea space.
