Responsibilities: Marine Mapping and Geophysical Surveying support. Candidate will be assisting in field work mobilizing/demobilizing for and collecting bathymetric (single and multibeam) and other geophysical data, as well as processing, interpreting and report preparation. Work will also include sediment sampling, and other field and office work (logging soils, sampling soils & water). Must have valid drivers license and credit card.

Educational/Certification Requirements: BS / BA or MS in Geophysics, Geology, Geomatics, Marine Science, or related field.

Skills Required: 2+ years of experience preferred but not required. Previous dredging, offshore and/or hydrographic survey experience a plus. Hypack/HySweep, CARIS, Fledermaus, SonarWiz, Oasis Montaj any/all software experience desired, including Microsoft Office, and general computer skills. Programming experience a plus. Sidescan, and single and multibeam sonar mapping experience desired. Magnetometer, sidescan, and subbottom data collection and interpretation experience desired. Sediment sampling with vibracore and Van Veen samplers. Must be physically fit to work long hours in the field and lift heavy objects (50 lbs). Must be willing to travel to project sites for extended periods (4 – 6 weeks).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Routine and preventative maintenance of field equipment in accordance with existing maintenance procedures. • Installation of equipment onto clients' vessels including hardware, firmware and software together with interfacing to client owned equipment. • Repair of field equipment, according to repair procedures, to chip level where possible. • Equipment includes acoustic navigation equipment and associated peripherals such as heading sensors and heave compensators, surface navigation systems (GPS and DGPS) and computer systems with peripherals and associated software. • Technical liaison with project managers, field crews, clients and other offices during the course of a contract. Workshop technicians are assigned as 'technician responsible' to specific contracts as they are awarded and will be responsible from identification of equipment types, through preparation, and mobilization/installation, technical liaison during the course of the contract and demobilization. • Preparation and test of equipment for contract mobilization and identification of shortfalls in equipment levels. • Maintenance of the company asset control system with specific respect to equipment maintenance. • Maintain/develop Quality Assurance procedures relating to engineering tasks and take part the company's safety program.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: • Associate Degree in electronics and 1-3 years’ experience, Military electronics training/experience or combination of equivalent education and experience. • 2-5 years of experience with either computers or electronic repair work, including use of PC diagnostics software and tools and understanding of serial interface protocols (e.g. RS232 and current loop). • Familiarity with common applications software including Microsoft office products. • Ability to travel overnight, (up to 120 days per year) of time is spent Offshore away from office location. Foreign assignments are possible. • Must hold or have ability to obtain a current passport, and have a valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record. • Ability to pass required physical, PEC safety and offshore water survival training. • Hold or ability to obtain Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC). • Must be a U.S. citizen or have permanent resident status. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Work with existing development team to design software and system upgrades to enhance Fugro’s AUV and surface based mapping systems. • Assist in design, implementation and support of fully integrated software solutions for mission planning, processing and deliverables. • Consult with internal users to determine software/system purpose, workflow, usability and document detailed requirements and test plans. • Provide offshore operational support as required to evaluate and test new technologies, championing those new technologies from development to production environments.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or other applicable engineering field; Master’s degree and/or minimum of 3 years’ experience in combination with BS degree preferred. • Must have C# and C++ programming experience. • Ideal candidate would have experience in UML design, unit testing, test management, hardware interfacing, hydrographic and geophysical processing. • Must have strong oral and written skills, capable of working in groups and independently, capable to learn new technologies quickly, effective ability to organize and prioritize tasks. • Capable of translating user needs into system requirements, requirements into statements of work. • Must have US work authorization, ability to pass full physical exam & obtain US passport. • Valid Driver’s License with acceptable motor vehicle record. Fenstermaker is looking for a Senior Hydrographic Surveyor. The ideal candidate would be a marine geologist or marine geophysicist meeting the following requirements: A minimum of 8 years of experience in hydrographic surveying with at least 3 years in responsible charge of hydrographic projects. Experience with single and dual frequency single beam echosounders, side-scan sonar, multi-beam echosounders, marine magnetometers and HyPack Navigation and data acquisition software is required. Candidate must be proficient in AutoCAD for generation of cross-section, contour, volumetric analysis and surface plots.

Either ASCM Hydrographer Certification or International Hydrographer Certification is preferred. Operational knowledge of sub-bottom profilers and ADCP (Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers) is desired.

Geodynamics is pleased to announce an opening for a coastal and marine surveyor or surveying technician to be based in Moorehead City, North Carolina. Applicants should have either a 4 year degree in Geomatics (or related discipline) or 2-3 years experience in the field of coastal surveying.
