AGU OS028 - Ocean Mapping: The Interdisciplinary Use and Importance of Bathymetry

Dear colleagues,
We invite you to submit an abstract to our AGU26 session:
OS028 - Ocean Mapping: The Interdisciplinary Use and Importance of Bathymetry
https://agu.confex.com/agu/agu26/prelim.cgi/Session/281868
Bathymetric data provide an essential framework for ocean exploration, seafloor characterization, hazard preparedness, resource management, and responsible use of the offshore environment. Yet despite its broad scientific and societal relevance, bathymetric data are often collected, managed, and used within disciplinary or sector-specific silos, limiting their accessibility, integration, and impact.
This session will explore how bathymetry can serve as a unifying framework to connect disciplines, sectors, and communities. We welcome contributions that demonstrate practical uses of bathymetric data to address environmental and societal needs, innovative workflows for data collection, processing, sharing, and integration, and approaches that foster collaboration and community building around seafloor data.
Submissions highlighting interdisciplinary applications, improved accessibility, data integration, and the broader impact of seafloor mapping are especially encouraged.
Please consider submitting an abstract and sharing this session with colleagues, students, and collaborators who may be interested.
Best,
Vicki Ferrini, Tim Kearns, Daniel Wagner and Sheila Caceres
