    Presentations/Speakers:

Upcoming trends in Data processing, Kevin Tomanka/OARS

This will be an expanded version of one of the 5-minute "Lightning Talks" from the U.S. Hydro 2017 Conference. It will be an overview of what we are seeing as the prevailing trends in hydrographic software, and showing how EIVA is tailoring the NaviSuite line to meet these needs. The talk will include topics on 3D Dredging, Oceanography, and Big Data applications.

Seamless Bathymetry with Topography, Harold Orlinsky/HYPACK

Creating a near seamless survey using a Norbit multibeam and Velodyne Lidar in the port of Malta.  Techniques to show the best method for data collection and processing

Multi Beam Sonar deployment with small vessel, minimal GPS availability and in close proximity to dam structures, Clifford Meis, P.E.: Utility Mapping Services

This presentation will discuss the deployment of a NORBIT iWBMSc system in two separate small water configurations at locations in West Central and South West Montana.  The first project included the use of a small 12ft Jon boat and robotic total station to obtain positioning data, while the second application utilized a 20ft jet boat, above and below a dam on the Missouri river.

    Cooperative Cleaning – Qimera v1.5, Mo Doucet/QPS

We've talked to clients about their experiences with multi-user workflows in other software applications.  What we've found generally is that existing solutions are overly complex, unstable, unwieldy and fail to bring value to the end client.  The dream of multi-user has yet to materialize.

Qimera Cooperative Cleaning and Production Line Processing address these issues in multi-user workflows by providing a set of simple tools that separate workflows to respect the natural progression of data refinement.  It also leverages the skill sets required of users at various stages of processing, data validation and product generation

Bathy/Topo Lidar Surveys to Monitor the Replenishment of the Elwha River Estuary and Coastline, Carol Lockhart, Ben Hocker/GDS

Brief overview of airborne bathy/topo lidar surveys conducted by Geomatics Data Solutions for the USGS on the Elwha River near Port Angeles, WA.

    Dylan Bedortha: SonTek                                        TBD

Remote High Resolution MBES & LiDAR Surveys – Carver Lake, Stephan Ryshkewitch: USACE/Portland

A complete multibeam bathymetric system and LiDAR kit together with boat is hiked into a remote alpine lake in Oregon. Discussion of the planning, logistics and completion of a high-resolution survey of Carver Lake.

THSOA Education Database Overview, Lou Nash: Measutronics

A geographic database is being developed in an effort to better promote educational opportunities offered by THSOA and its membership. This database will also serve as a “feeder system” for those THSOA members looking for internship / new hire sources.

ASV Supported Commercial Hydrographic Survey - Alaska, 2016, Andrew Ziegwied, ASV Global & Andrew Orthmann, Terrasond

ASV Global designs, build, and operated unmanned and autonomous boats. They will be presenting a Hydrographic Survey case study for the C-Worker 5™ operating as a force
    multiplier near Nunivak Island, Alaska.

The C-worker 5™ completed 2275 nautical miles of survey lines, running parallel to the Q105. Both vessels had identical multi-beams and simultaneously towed the same side-scan sonars completing the project in half the time and less than half the cost.

Using Ancillary Datasets to Improve Multibeam Editing Decisions, Tony Ramirez/TRITON

Assumptions made during manual editing of multibeam data can have profound impacts on policies and decisions based on the final products.  This presentation will demonstrate data fusion capabilities in Triton’s Perspective software that help answer the question “is it real or should I remove it?”.
